Drouin and Yates Earn Preseason All-American Accolades
HAMILTON — Two Raiders earned Preseason All-American honors from Inside Lacrosse Thursday.
Max Yates was named to the Third Team, and Hunter Drouin earned honorable mention. Both players garnered All-American honorable mention by USA Lacrosse, USILA, and Inside Lacrosse following the 2024 season.
Yates racked up 31 caused turnovers last season, finishing second in the Patriot League and tied for eighth nationally. He recorded 10 contests with multiple caused turnovers on his way to averaging 2.07 per contest, which also sat second in the Patriot League and eighth nationally.
The senior registered 10 games with five or more ground balls. Yates scooped up 84 total, ranking fourth in the Patriot League.
Yates caused four turnovers and picked up seven ground balls during the win at Penn State last year. Additionally, the long stick midfielder tied his career high with five caused turnovers while scooping up eight ground balls during the victory at Bucknell. He was also named a Third Team Preseason All-American by USA Lacrosse Jan. 22.
Drouin posted 52 points with 38 goals and 14 assists. He recorded 12 multi-goal performances, including seven with three or more. Drouin finished seventh in the Patriot League in points and tied for eighth in goals.
The midfielder logged four goals during a win over Lafayette. Additionally, he posted six points with four goals and two helpers during the win at Army.
Colgate opens its season Saturday, traveling to #14 Penn State. Opening face-off is slated for 1 p.m.
