Track and Field Shines at Hamilton College Invitational
CLINTON, N.Y. - The Raiders track and field teams competed at the Hamilton College Invitational on Friday in Clinton, N.Y.
COACH FRANCE'S COMMENTS
"Really pleased with the performances today. We had to pivot due to weather but overall the morale and development of the team is trending in the right direction. We have two big weekends ahead, and I trust this crew is poised for more records ahead."
WOMEN
Lucy Pew won the gold medal in the 5000m run with a time of 17:55.53. Taylor Mitchell and Kara Shepard also placed in the top four in the 5000m run while Frances Munger rounded out the top six.
Elizabeth Manly won the 100m hurdles with a blazing 15.20s.
Annie Reilly logged a second place finish in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing with a time of 11:15.61.
Oonagh Last brought home the silver in the 100m dash with a time of 12.84s. Last also collected a bronze medal in the 200m dash, crossing the finish line at 26.22s.
Mia Jilani and June Nathan finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 400m dash.
Hailey Bradley won the bronze medal in the 800m run with a time of 2:26.47. Bradley also finished in third in the 1500m run. Linden Cafcules and Juliet Drury also placed in the top four in the 1500m, Cafcules earning a silver medal while Drury placed fourth.
The foursome of Mia Jilani, Oonagh Last, Elizabeth Manly, and June Nathan won the 4x400m relay.
Sonia Erbe placed third in the high jump with a leap of 1.47m.
The Raiders swept the podium in the pole vault as Melinda Haagensen collected a gold medal. Julianna Hallyburton and Georgia Deep rounded out the top three.
MEN
Simon Connors won the gold medal in the 100m dash crossing the finish line at 10.90s. Connors also earned the gold in the 200m dash.
Tyler Ferlise and Owen DeMatt placed first and second, respectively, in the 1500m run. Ferlise finished with a time of 4:01.35 while DeMatt finished three seconds after.
Cole Blair won the gold in the long jump with a leap of 7.33m. Jedidiah Guenthner placed fourth in the same event. Guenthner also collected a silver medal in the triple jump.
John Griffith, Owen McMorrow, Thomas Rivier, Asim Hakim-Florian, and Liam Burgess swept the top five in the 5000m run. Griffith won the gold with a time of 15:05.97.
John Turnbull placed second in the 400m hurdles crossing the finish line at 59.95s.
Finn Kosich collected a bronze medal in the 800m run 1:58.86.
The group of Jack Gabrielle, Finn Kosich, Joshua Myers, and Vincent Ryan earned the silver medal in the 4x400 relay.
UP NEXT
Colgate will compete in two separate meets next weekend. The Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pa. will take place Friday through Sunday while the Utica Pioneer Invitational will be held in Utica, N.Y. on Saturday.
