Raiders Excel in Latest NCAA Academic Progress Rate

HAMILTON – Ten Colgate University athletics teams earned perfect four-year 1,000 scores in the NCAA's latest Academic Progress Rates (APR) released Thursday afternoon.

Raider teams posting perfect scores in the multi-year format, which measures data collected over a span of four academic years (2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24): 

  • Men's Basketball
  • Men's Cross Country
  • Women's Cross Country
  • Men's Golf
  • Men's Lacrosse
  • Men's Track and Field
  • Women's Ice Hockey
  • Women's Swimming
  • Women's Tennis
  • Volleyball

"Colgate's commitment to academic excellence is once again reflected in the NCAA's latest academic progress data," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Yariv Amir '01. "I continue to be inspired by the achievements of our student-athletes in their competitive arenas, the classrooms, and in the community. Congratulations to the student-athletes on this accomplishment, and thank you to all of our campus partners that help support and guide their academic pursuits."

Colgate's average four-year APR scored 996, much higher than the national average of 984. The multiyear APR scores for all of Colgate's NCAA-sponsored programs registered a score of 984 or higher, including 20 programs scoring a 990 or higher. 

Along with the multi-year data, 18 teams posted perfect scores for the 2023-24 cohort, including men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, field hockey, golf, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's soccer, softball, women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, and volleyball. 

The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams. The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport. 
 
Every Division I sports team submits data to have its Academic Progress Rate calculated each academic year. The NCAA reports both single-year rates and four-year rates. APRs for each team are available online through the NCAA's searchable database.
