Blair Brings Home Patriot League Championship

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Colgate men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Patriot League Championships that took place at Bucknell University from Friday, May 3 - Saturday, May 4.

LEWISBURG, Pa. The Colgate men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Patriot League Championships that took place at Bucknell University from Friday, May 3 - Saturday, May 4.

Cole Blair picked up his third consecutive outdoor long jump championship and fourth overall. Blair leaped a massive 7.25m, more than .20m than second place. 

COACH FRANCE'S COMMENTS

"We couldn't have asked for a better overall result from our squad this weekend. It was a major improvement from the indoor season and one of the largest point finishes for our program in years. Excited to end our league championship meet with numerous program records broken across event groups. We're returning many key members of this squad next year and we're excited to get back to work for more postseason competition."

WOMEN

Melinda Haagensen continued her successful first year finishing fifth in the pole vault with a vault of 3.72m. Haagensen has finished top five in all but two meets this outdoor season.

Clare Gillis placed fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 24.38.

Sara Tabibian finished fourth in the 400m hurdles crossing the finish line at 1:01.98.

Katherine Wand placed in the javelin throw.

Colgate women's track and field finished 7th out of 10 teams in the team rankings.

MEN

Cole Blair won the outdoor long jump championship, the junior has now successfully defended his long jump crown three years straight. With the win, he earns a spot on the First-Team All-Patriot League. Blair also finished fifth in the triple jump.

Blair, Simon Connors, Ethan Eisner, and Benjamin Krill came second in the 4x100 which earned them all a spot on the Second-Team All-Patriot League. They finished with a blazing time of 41.49, just .50 seconds behind first place.

Ethan Eisner finished fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 48.73.

Samuel Epstein placed fifth in the pole vault with a vault of 4.67m.

Owen Holland placed in the 10,000m run.

Colgate men's track and field finished 7th out of 9 teams in the team rankings.

The Raiders prepare for the upcoming ECAC/IC4A Championships in Fairfax, Va. The Championships are scheduled for Friday, May 10 - Sunday, May 12.
