Yates Named Preseason All-American
SPARKS, Md. — USA Lacrosse released its Preseason All-Americans Wednesday, with long-stick midfielder Max Yates earning third team honors.
Yates recorded career-highs in caused turnovers (31) and ground balls (84) on his way to garnering First Team All-Patriot League accolades in 2024. Additionally, he was named All-American Honorable Mention by USA Lacrosse, Inside Lacrosse, and the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).
The senior finished third in the Patriot League and tied for eighth nationally in caused turnovers. His 2.07 caused turnovers per game ranked second in the conference and eighth in the nation.
During the 2024 campaign, Yates logged 10 games with multiple caused turnovers, including three contests with four or more. He tied his career high with five in a win at Bucknell March 16.
Yates was fourth in the Patriot League in ground balls and fell fifth in ground balls per game (5.60). He posted 10 games with more than five ground balls, including picking up a career-best nine in the victory over Loyola on March 2.
Colgate opens its season Feb. 1 when it travels to Penn State for a 1 p.m. contest.
