Colgate Competes at Maryland Invitational
MARYLAND – The Colgate Men's and Women's Track and Field team competed in the Maryland Invitational on Saturday at the University of Maryland.
COACH FRANCE'S COMMENTS
"Maryland was a nice tune up for a big week ahead against national level competition. Our team competed well and optimized the opportunity to take steps forward in our preparation for championship season. We are inching ahead towards our goals this season and we're going to continue to focus on being better than we were yesterday. They are working hard and I'm excited to see what lies ahead."
WOMEN
Melinda Haagensen won silver in the pole vault with a 3.35m vault. Julianna Hallyburton finished fourth in the event.
Katherine Wand placed fourth in the javelin throw with a 34.12m throw.
Clare Gillis finished fourth in the 200m.
Hailey Bradley secured fifth place in the 1500m.
MEN
The men swept the podium in the 5000m with Owen Holland taking the top spot. Owen McMorrow and Will Keiser completed the sweep finishing second and third, respectively.
The relay team of Cole Blair, Jeff Groth, Simon Connors, and Ben Krill won the 4x100 relay crossing the line at 42.05.
Dakin Ebmeyer won his first career outdoor event in the 1500m with a time of 3:56.58. Liam Davis finished third in the event crossing the line at 4:00.09.
John Griffith brought home the gold in the 3000m at 8:51.09.
Cole Blair won silver in the long jump with a 6.58m leap.
Luca Sturgeon finished second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.82.
Ben Horner secured a third place finish in the 800m.
Henry Lewinsohn secured the third place spot in the javelin throw, launching it 49.15m.
UP NEXT
The Raiders will split up traveling to either Austin, Texas or Raleigh, N.C. to compete in the Texas Relays or the Raleigh Relays next weekend, Mar. 27 - Mar. 30.
