Baker Announces Incoming Class

HAMILTON – Colgate University Head Volleyball Coach Ryan Baker has announced the addition of five incoming student-athletes who will join the four-time defending Patriot League champions in the fall of 2025.

HAMILTON – Colgate University Head Volleyball Coach Ryan Baker has announced the addition of five incoming student-athletes who will join the four-time defending Patriot League champions in the fall of 2025. 

The incoming class features two outside hitters, a setter, and two liberos hailing from three different states including California (2), Ohio (2), and Texas.

Aubrey Anders

Outside Hitter | 6-0
Independence, Ohio | Gilmour Academy | Academy Volleyball Cleveland (AVC)

Coach Baker on Aubrey: "Aubrey is a rangy attacker who really compliments our current roster of outsides. Her size and athleticism in that position really stand out and will certainly elevate our gym. Besides her athleticism, she plays with great energy and passion. Aubrey has played high level club and high school volleyball so she will be ready for the speed early on in her career."

Before Colgate

Graduated cum laude from Gilmour Academy…tallied 921 kills and 145 blocks over 3 seasons with the Lancers… helped her high school team to the regional, district, and sectional championship 2021-2024 in her 3 years under coach Danny Coughlin… culminated in winning the 2024 state championship… received Offensive Player of the Year honors… named All-District First Team, News Herald All Stars First Team, and First Team All-Ohio in 2024… made All-District Third Team in 2023… All District Honorable Mention nod in 2021… also played 10 years under coach Paul Schiffer at Academy Volleyball Cleveland… named to the JVA watchlist from 2023-2025… made Prep Dig Top 10 in Ohio… selected for the 2023 MLK Ft. Lauderdale Invitational All-Tournament Team… member of the National Honor Society… member of the honor roll with highest honors… won the Science Department Award… recognized as an Academic All-District selectee… also participated in student council and spirit club. 

Personal

Born: Aubrey Rae Anders in Independence, Ohio.
Family: Daughter of Dan and Ashley…has one brother, Aiden, and one sister, Ava.

Aubrey on choosing Colgate:
I chose Colgate because it reminds me a lot of my high school at the college level. Not only do they have a very amazing and successful volleyball team, but the academic side of the school is very rigorous and a challenge I would like to take on. In addition, I am not a person that likes to be in big cities with a lot going on. Colgate is a smaller school in a small town and when I was on campus I loved it and the people I was around."
 



Jordyn Moore

Coach Baker on Jordyn: "Jordyn's versatility is what we really loved about her during the recruiting process. We truly believe she has all the things needed to be an incredible all-around player. She excels at so many different skills and we know she will raise our gym in all areas. She is a big-armed attacker along with an ability to run an offense as a setter.  Her athleticism, competitiveness, and leadership were major factors in our decision. She makes her teammates better."

Before Colgate

2025 graduate of Argyle High School… tallied 4 varsity letters with the Eagles under head coach Katelyn Johnson… recorded over 2,000 career assists, over 1,000 career points, over 1,000 career digs… owns the school record for over 1,000 in assists, points, and digs… posted 29 triple doubles and a .300 hitting percentage…  named District and All Area MVP her senior year… a TGCA All State selection in both junior and senior years… received AVCA All Region honors senior year… senior State All-Tournament Team honoree… District and All-Area Setter of the Year in her junior year… named 2023 Offensive Player of the Year… helped her team to a third place finish at the 2024 State Championship… 2024 team MVP award… named Academic All-State… senior captain… also played 8 years under head coach Shea Jenkins at Excel… qualified for Nationals every year… All-Tournament Team selection in 2023… named to the 2022 North Texas Region All Star Team… also played basketball.

Born: Jordyn Moore in Denton, Texas.
Family: Daughter of Holly and Michael Anders… has one brother, Ryan, and one sister, Jessie.

Jordyn on choosing Colgate:
"I chose Colgate because of the volleyball program and the coaching staff. I also fell in love with how beautiful the campus is and the small town feel. Colgate was exactly what I was looking for and I believe it is the best fit for me."
 


Julia Oster
Libero/DS | 5-8
Concord Township, Ohio | Lake Catholic | Academy Volleyball of Cleveland

Coach Baker on Julia: "Julia is a natural passer who has great touch on the ball. The ball seems to find ways to get to target on a regular basis when she touches it. Julia's level of confidence is something we search for in a libero and Julia has exactly that. We also believe her serve is an added bonus. Julia's club and high school experience have her ready for the speed of play and we are excited to watch her compete in our gym."

Before Colgate
Graduated from Lake Catholic High School… recorded 4 varsity letters with the Cougars under head coach Tess Connolly… tallied 223 aces, 1,204 digs, and 338 sets played over her high school career… holds the Lake Catholic High School Volleyball record for most career aces… 3x State Champion… 4x Sectional, District, and Regional Champion… 4x Crown Conference Champion… 2x Team Defensive Player of the Year… named 2024 Conference Defensive and District Player of the Year… also made 2024 Gilmour Invitational All Star Team senior year… 2023 First Team All-District and Conference Defensive Player of the Year… received the 2023 All-State Honorable Mention nod… named to the 2022 Third Team All-Conference and Gilmour Invitational All Star Team… made it to the 2021 State Final Four and was named Rookie of the Year… senior captain… also played for Eastside Cleveland Juniors from 2015-202, Maverick from 2021-2022, and Academy Volleyball of Cleveland from 2022-2025… served as club team captain from 2021-2025… Senior Student Body Vice President… Spiritual Life and Student Ambassador member all four years… received First Honors all semesters… AP Language and Composition Department Award honoree… won the University of Notre Dame Book Club of Cleveland Award… honored with the Religion Departmental Award… member of the National Honor Society.

Born: Julia Carol Oster in Painesville, Ohio.
Family: Daughter of Linda and Dan Oster has one brother, Derek, and two sisters, Hannah and Kara.

"I chose Colgate because I really like the community aspect and the culture of the program, players, and coaches. I like the academic rigor and the feeling I got when I first stepped on campus."

Coach Baker on Sydney: "Sydney is a very strong passer and defender with a lot of high level high school and club experience. She has great size for a libero and has the fight you want in that position. We know she will sacrifice herself to extend rallies for us. Sydney's work ethic and passion for Colgate really excite us."

Before Colgate

Played three years of varsity volleyball at Mater Dei High School…five-time Max Prep Player of the Game…competed on the club circuit for A4 Volleyball Club, where she helped lead her team to a Max Prep National Championship…three-time Trinity League champions and two-time CIF State Open champion…earned the Mater Dei 2024 Varsity Monarch Award, given to athletes who made a significant impact on the team on and off the court.

Born: Sydney Anne Raszewski in Newport Beach, Calif.
Family: Daughter of Joe and Tracey…has one brother, Evan.

"I chose Colgate because it offers the highest level of academics and athletics, so I don't have to choose between one or the other. I will also be surrounded by high achieving people like me who will push me to be better."

Coach Baker on Sophia: "Sophia has a great deal of athleticism and continues to get better each time we see her. We have a lot of familiarity with both Sophia's high school and club training which we know will have her ready. We are very excited to continue to see Sophia grow during her time here as we believe she has the foundation to make great strides. Her upside is very exciting and we can't wait to start working with her."

2025 graduate of Cathedral Catholic High School… played one year of high school volleyball under head coach Juliana Conn.. served as JV captain for the Dons in 2023 and was named Best Offensive Player… played under head coach Rafa Asvolinsque of Coast Volleyball Club from 2020-2025… went undefeated in league and tournament play… won gold at the 2025 Northern Lights… won the 2024 CIF SoCal Open Division and CIF California State Championships… placed 3rd in the 2023 AAU National Championships… 2023 Titan Invitational JV MVP honoree… received Dave Mohs Tournament JV All-Tournament Team nod in 2023… selected for the 2022 Wolverine Invitational JV All-Tournament Team… named to the 2021 Redondo/Costa JV Invitational All-Tournament Team… 2021 Freshman Team MVP… senior captain… named to the 2024 San Diego City Conference All-Academic Team… member of CSF and the Surfrider Foundation.

Family: Daughter of Kim Ross and Adam Towle… has two brothers, Brady and Jake, and one sister, Marin.
