Hollomon in Top Five After First Round at Rum Pointe

Battling windy conditions throughout the day, Kevin Hollomon carded a one-over-par 73 and sits tied for fifth after Friday's opening round of the Battle at Rum Pointe. Colgate is tied for fifth as a team with a 309 (+21).One hundred golfers from 18 teams are competing in the weekend two-day tournament at the par-72 Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Course in Berlin, Md.
"Today lived up to the name of the tournament, Battle," head coach JP Kircher said. "One of the consistently windier days I've seen in tournament play, which is hard on a course that has lots of trouble."
Hollomon recorded 15 pars and his one-over-par scorecard landed him four strokes off the lead with the final round slated for Saturday morning.
Robbie Herzig turned in a five-over-par 77 and is tied with seven other golfers for 20th place. Herzig paced the Raiders in last year's tournament at Rum Pointe with a seventh-place finish.
Justin Fedele is one stroke behind Herzig in a tie for 28th after posting a six-over-par 78.
"We did well to manage our emotions and continue moving forward," Kircher said. "Kevin put together a very good round with 15 pars. Robbie did a great job turning around the end of his day, playing his last six holes 2-under. We're going to have a chance tomorrow to chase some teams down. Looking forward to getting back out there!"

Colgate looks to gain ground on the leaders in the final round scheduled for Saturday morning.
