Bergsland Named ECACH Defender of the Month
CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Tommy Bergsland was named ECAC Hockey Ironhead Defender of the Month for December, announced by the conference Thursday.
Bergsland recorded five assists in two games against #12 Cornell Dec. 6-7. He also blocked three shots and went +3.
The senior tallied two helpers in a 3-2 overtime loss during the series opener in Ithaca, N.Y.
He tied his career-high with three assists the following night, guiding the Raiders to a 6-3 victory over the Big Red. Bergsland provided a helper on a tally in the second period, making it 3-1. He also assisted the game-winner, a power play goal in the third that put Colgate up 4-3, and the final goal of the contest that solidified the 6-3 win.
Bergsland has recorded four multi-assist performances this season, including two games with three helpers. He leads the conference in assists with 14, eight of which have come in league play. The blueliner's 14 points sit tied for 10th in the league.
This is the second time in his career that Bergsland has earned Defender of the Month after picking up the honor in October 2023. He was also named Defender of the Week Dec. 9 following the Cornell series.
Colgate hosts Concordia in an exhibition contest Saturday at 4 p.m. Admission to the game is free.
