COACH HARDER'S COMMENTS
"It's a three-game series, and we will respond well tomorrow night. We'll watch the film and make some adjustments. I thought our special teams were really good. It only took us 14 seconds to score on the power play. That was great, and I think we will keep building on that."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Big Red sealed the deal with an empty net power play goal from Sullivan Mack with 1:11 remaining, putting the score at 4-1.
- Cornell regained a two-goal lead at 3-1 eight minutes into the third with a tally from Jonathan Castagna.
- Alex DiPaolo got one back for the Raiders on a power play, making it 2-1. Brett Chorske and Reid Irwin played passes back and forth before Irwin fired a shot that DiPaolo redirected into the goal.
- Cornell had made it 2-0 with a goal from Jack O'Leary just over halfway through the middle frame.
- The Big Red pulled ahead 1-0 when Kyle Penney found the back of the net with just under five and a half minutes remaining in the opening period.
- Colgate killed off one Big Red penalty in the second and two in the third.
- The Raiders outshot the Big Red 10-9 in the third, but they could not put one in the net.
GAME NOTES
- DiPaolo netted his team-leading fifth power-play goal of the season and has scored in back-to-back contests.
- With his helper, Chorske extended his point streak to four games.
- Irwin has recorded a point in four of the previous five contests.
- Andrew Takacs stopped 24 shots in goal.
