Bergsland Picks Up Defender of the Week Honors
CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Tommy Bergsland earned ECAC Hockey Defender of the Week, announced by the conference Monday.
Bergsland logged five assists in two games against #12 Cornell last weekend, including three in the Raiders' 6-3 victory at home Saturday. He also went +3 on the weekend.
The senior assisted both Colgate goals in a 3-2 overtime loss at Lynah Rink Friday, including one on a power play in the second period.
Bergsland tied his career-high with three assists during Saturday's victory over the Big Red. He provided a helper on a tally in the second period, making it 3-1. Bergsland also assisted the game-winner, a power play goal in the third that put Colgate up 4-3, and the final goal of the contest that solidified the 6-3 win.
The blueliner recorded his second three-assist performance of the season after registering one against Sacred Heart Oct. 11. He now has 15 career multi-point games, including 11 multi-assist contests.
Bergsland leads ECAC Hockey and sits tied for seventh nationally in helpers with 14 this season.
The Raiders are off until Saturday, Jan. 4, when they host Concordia in an exhibition at 4 p.m.
