COACH KARWECK'S COMMENTS
"Hats off to Coach Tiffany and his staff for doing a great job.

From the first whistle, this was an incredibly physically and mentally demanding game. Our guys played with great heart, great intensity, and great fight all over the field. I'm so proud to watch them lay it all out there week by week, sacrificing their bodies, competing their tails off, and being as passionate as they are.

Lacrosse is a game of runs. At one point in the third, the score was 13-9, and we had them reeling a bit. Simply put, if we want to win these types of games, we need to be more consistent and work on our sticks. We will channel the energy of this dissatisfaction, this frustration, and this loss into our practice this week. I'm excited to see our response."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jack Turner evened the score at 1-1 47 seconds into the first. Hunter Drouin then tied it at 2-2 with just under seven minutes left.
  • Turner notched his second of the contest with nine seconds remaining in the first, stopping a three-goal UVA run and making it 5-3.
  • The Cavaliers scored four straight to start the second before the Raiders put in back-to-back tallies. Sam Erickson scooped one in at the 7:04 mark, and Drouin followed with his second 38 seconds later.
  • The Raiders outscored the Cavaliers 4-3 in the third quarter.
  • Ryan Favaro started a 4-0 Colgate run with a goal just over a minute and a half into the quarter. Turner then completed his hat trick at the 8:42 mark, putting the score at 13-7.
  • The Raiders kept it going with quick-back-to-back tallies. Drouin finished off his hat trick with 4:39 remaining. Erickson followed 34 seconds later when the long pole ripped in his second of the game while Colgate was down a man, cutting the deficit to four at 13-9.
  • The Cavaliers added two more at the end of the third and four in the fourth.

  • Turner and Drouin led the Raiders with three goals apiece, both recording their first hat tricks of the season.
