Men’s Tennis Prepared for Triumphant Spring
HAMILTON –The men's tennis team is set to return to action for the first time in 2025 with a trip to Stonehill for their season opener. After a 2-4 conference record and a 6-15 overall record in the 2024, the Raiders bounced back with a strong fall season including a semifinal run from senior captain Josh Israel in the inaugural Patriot League Fall Individual Tournament.
"The men are chomping at the bit for this season after three brutal, adversity filled seasons," head coach Bobby Pennington said. "We have finally got the culture back to where it needs to be, blending it with four hungry captains and talented underclassmen. We feel like we have a more favorable schedule with many home matches. Our goal is to get back to the top half of the league where we belong. We are one through twelve deep and unified in our mission."
In addition to Israel, the squad is led by three additional senior captains in Benito Vlassis, Mikey Weitz, and Ben Graham, who will all look to finish their Colgate careers on a high note.
Sophomore Jerome Falcon looks to build on his strong fall campaign where he went 8-1 overall in singles play, including a win over Ivy League foe Brown, while also going undefeated in doubles with his partner, classmate Parker McGowan.
The team also returns three juniors, Aidan Lee, Aidan Chung, and John Fazli, who look to build off their performances last season. Chung and Fazli teamed up at line two doubles for most of the 2024 campaign, while Lee finished 8-10 in singles on the year playing at predominantly line three singles.
Three newcomers join the group this year in Tim Viding, Lochlan Seth, and Wesley Nichols, who look to make an immediate impact on the program.
The season-opener sees first serve at 2 p.m. on Saturday, in Easton, Mass.
