Diehl Named Player of the Week
HAMILTON - Sophia Diehl earned Patriot League player of the week honors the conference announced on Monday.
Diehl helped the Raiders go 2-0 this past week netting 27 points over the two games. The senior filled the box score as she netted 12 points, grabbed eight boards, added two assists, and two steals in Colgate's 92-51 win over Union on Tuesday.
The captain scored 15 points on Saturday against Pitt-Johnstown, shooting 66.7 percent (6-for-9) from the floor including 3-for-5 from downtown. Diehl added three rebounds and an assist in route to a 71-46 win.
The Westminster, Md. native has been a key part of helping Colgate start the season 8-3, its best start since 2019, and finishing home non-conference play a perfect 6-0.
First-year Tatiana Matthews also earned honorable mention for last week's performance. Matthews scored a career-high 14 points and logged three steals against Union. The Dunnellon, Fla. native grabbed three boards and posted two steals in the win over Pitt-Johnstown.
The Raiders return to action this Saturday as they travel to Syracuse to take on Le Moyne. Tip is scheduled for 12 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
