BOSTON — Colgate tied the game at 1-1 in the first quarter, but Boston University scored two goals to pull away and defeat the Raiders 3-1 Friday evening.

COACH CORNELL-DEANGELIS' COMMENTS
"We played a tough game with a lot of heart, and I am proud of how we competed. We had some key players that stepped up, made some big plays, and kept us in the game. We need to continue to shoot and draw more corners when we are in the circle. Unfortunately, BU was able to draw the corners, and Payton Anderson is a talented drag flicker for them. Lily had a great defensive save on one of the drags. Despite the loss, the team had fun. We really feel connected and want to take that energy into the next game."

HOW IT HAPPENED

• BU took a 1-0 lead just under three minutes into the first after Tess Csejka fired one home.
• Katie Convey then tied the game at 1-1 four minutes later. Lily Schoonmaker played a pass into the circle after a restart, and Convey collected it, firing a shot past the goalie.
• BU retook the lead with two and a half minutes left in the first when Payton Anderson found the back of the cage following a penalty corner. 
• The Terriers extended their advantage to two six minutes into the third with Anderson's  second of the contest.
• Hannah Marcotrigiano had back-to-back shots in the fourth quarter, firing one that got saved with 10 and a half minutes left and putting one wide 38 seconds later
• Willis had one final chance with 32 seconds left in the final quarter, taking a shot that landed off target.
• The Raiders recorded one shot in the second from Willis when she ripped one that got saved with just over a minute remaining.
• Colgate had another shot from Willis in the first quarter when she fired one wide.

GAME NOTES

• Mackie Mann made her first career start in goal, recording nine saves. The first-year stopped five shots in the first quarter and held the Terriers scoreless in the second and fourth frames.
