Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Navy, 19-9

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Caroline Panzirer netted a game-high three goals, but nationally-ranked Navy (6-3, 1-0 Patriot) outscored the Raiders (3-5, 0-2 Patriot) 11-3 in the second half to pull away for a 19-9 decision Saturday afternoon.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Caroline Panzirer netted a game-high three goals, but nationally-ranked Navy (6-3, 1-0 Patriot) outscored the Raiders (3-5, 0-2 Patriot) 11-3 in the second half to pull away for a 19-9 decision Saturday afternoon.

Panzirer's hat trick and four points paced Colgate offensively, while Lucy Licata added three points on a pair of goals and an assist. Aubrey McMahon also earned a multi-point performance with a goal and an assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Colgate scored the final three goals of the second quarter, outscoring Navy 3-2 in the term, to trail by only two at the intermission. Panzirer started the flurry with her second goal of the game, followed by tallies from McMahon and Licata to trim the deficit to 8-6 at halftime. 
  • Panzirer finished off her hat trick in the third quarter, but that was Colgate's lone goal in the frame as No. 23 Navy capped the stanza on a 5-0 run to open a 14-7 advantage. 
  • Kendall Belanger registered her fourth goal of the season two minutes into the fourth quarter, before the Mids countered with back-to-back goals two minutes apart to keep the comfortable lead.
  • Licata's second goal of the game trimmed the margin to 16-9 with 8:56 remaining in regulation, but Navy went on to score the final three goals of the game to pull away for the 19-9 triumph.
