Raiders Race in Head of Charles
Cambridge, Mass. – Colgate women's rowing began its fall season with a 23rd-place finish at the Head of the Charles Regatta, pacing out a time of 17:36.605 at one of the largest races in the country on Saturday afternoon.
"For the first race of the year, the boat got off to a great start and matched times with our peer programs," first-year Head Coach Jim Lister said. "The crew was pushed off its line by another crew at one of the narrow bridges, but we were able to re-assert ourselves and finish strong. The technical work came through with the boat rowing efficiently, and this investment will pay off for the spring sprints."
The Colgate 1v8 was the fourth Patriot League boat to finish in the race, just seconds behind Boston University and Holy Cross, which finished in 15th and 17th, respectively.
The eight-rower boat was crewed by Audra FitzGerald, Ella Siegenthaler, Rebecca Carew, Marie Clausen, Genna Lamphier, Anna Kate Gwiazdowski, Elena Myatt, Meredith Francis and coxswain Katherine Metcalf.
