Varsity Eight Claims Patriot League Boat of the Week

HAMILTON – After a strong showing in a win at the New York State Collegiate Championships in Saratoga Springs on Saturday, the Colgate women's rowing varsity eight captured Patriot League Boat of the Week, announced Tuesday.

HAMILTON – After a strong showing in a win at the New York State Collegiate Championships in Saratoga Springs on Saturday, the Colgate women's rowing varsity eight captured Patriot League Boat of the Week, announced Tuesday. 

Colgate sent four boats to the 28-team battle on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.,  the regional Championship for the collegiate crews of New York. The Raiders came out strong, headlined by the varsity eight taking first place in the race.

The Raiders' 1V8 earned first overall, with a time of 7:01.440, crossing ahead of Syracuse's 3V (7:04.734), whose top boat had recently been awarded the No. 10 spot on the CRCA Coaches Poll, and Bates (7:07.750). The winning boat included Katherine Metcalf (C), Marie Clausen, Natalie McCall, Elena Myatt, Rebecca Carew, Audrey Brogan, Ellie Givertz-Steel, Sophia Cerroni, Stella Curcio

This is the second Patriot League Boat of the Week honor on record for the Raiders, after being named earlier in the season. The team travels back to Worcester, Mass., in two weeks for the Eastern Sprints.
