Raiders Fall in Series Finale at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell scored four runs in the sixth inning to pull away for a 5-0 win over the Colgate softball team on Sunday afternoon, sweeping the three-game series at Becker Field.

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell scored four runs in the sixth inning to pull away for a 5-0 win over the Colgate softball team on Sunday afternoon, sweeping the three-game series at Becker Field.

Colgate's offense was limited to two hits from Claire Whalen and Quinn Livesay. Whalen and Jillian Herbst each worked a walk. Herbst had a web gem in left field, firing a laser to home that Livesay caught in the air and tagged the runner out for an inning-ending double play in the fourth.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Bucknell struck first in the bottom of the second when Ava Aguilar worked a bases-loaded walk. That was the only blemish on Mikala Ham's pitching line until the sixth.
  • Colgate put runners in scoring position in the first, third, and fifth innings. The Raiders had runners on second and third in the top of the third but couldn't cash in after a groundout ended the frame with the Bison still holding a 1-0 lead.
  • Ham matched her counterpart in the circle until the Bison stretched their lead with three runs on three hits in the sixth, including back-to-back doubles from Savannah Jones and Brooke Popella, to build a 5-0 lead – which the home team maintained through the final frame.
