Colgate Dropped by Dartmouth
Box Score HANOVER, N.H. – The women's tennis team fell to Dartmouth Sunday morning by a score of 6-1. First- year Rebecca Hess provided the sole victory, winning in straight sets on line five, 6-4, 6-4.
"I'm very proud of how the ladies competed out there today," assistant coach Jake Sandler said. "It's always a fun experience getting to play at an Ivy league facility. Credit to Dartmouth, they were very talented and tough. I thought we fought hard and showed we can play at a very high level. Major shout out to first-year Rebecca Hess for a massive straight sets win at number five singles."
The match started off with the doubles point, where the Big Green took courts one and two by a score of 6-3 and 6-2, respectively.
Singles action shortly followed, with Dartmouth quickly winning court four. The Raiders fought hard but were swept on courts one through three before adding a line six triumph and taking a commanding 6-0 lead overall. However, Hess came through to avoid the sweep with her victory in the five spot.
The Raiders return to action next weekend, where they will travel to face off against Seton Hall at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, followed by a matchup with Le Moyne at Drumlins Country Club Sunday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m.
