Galin Earns First Team All-Patriot League Honors
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Amelia Galin was named First Team All-Patriot League, announced by the conference Friday.
"I am extremely proud of Amelia, and it has been quite some time since we have had someone on the first team," said head coach Bobby Pennington. "She more than deserved it, going 12-9 overall and beating the number ones from Holy Cross, Lehigh, Loyola, and Bucknell. This is another testament to how much my women have improved and the upward trajectory of the program."
Galin earned postseason accolades from the conference for the second time after being named to the Second Team as a first-year in 2023.
Galin played the entire season at No. 1 singles for Colgate, posting a 12-9 record, including a 4-2 conference mark. She logged an 11-8 record at No. 1 doubles, going 3-3 during Patriot League action.
The junior started non-conference play with a bang, earning Patriot League Player of the Week following an undefeated singles weekend with wins over Stonehill and Rhode Island. She also picked up a doubles win against the Rams.
Galin went on a three-match win streak from Feb. 15-22, racking up singles victories over Siena, Rochester, and Providence. She also won four straight doubles matches against Rochester, Providence, Boston University, and Wagner.
The Westport, Conn., native garnered her second Patriot League Player of the Week accolade after picking up victories at No. 1 singles and doubles against Le Moyne. She continued her momentum into the next two matches, going undefeated against Holy Cross and Florida National.
Galin ended conference play by winning three of her final four singles matches, downing Loyola, Lehigh, and Bucknell. She also earned a doubles victory against the Bison.
Colgate finished the regular season with a 12-11 record, its sixth consecutive winning season.
