Shadwick Lands Academic All-District Honors
HAMILTON – Colgate Volleyball's senior outside hitter Abby Shadwick continued her postseason awards haul with Academic All-District honors on Tuesday, announced by the College Sports Communications (CSC) office.
The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance in the classroom and on the court. To earn the selection, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and they must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. Student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the program's sets played or start in at least 66 percent of the institution's total matches.
Shadwick became Colgate's first-ever two-time Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year after garnering the top award again this season. One of the most decorated players in program history, Shadwick will graduate as a four-time Patriot League champion, three-time All-Patriot League First Team selection, three-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree, and a Patriot League Tournament Most Valuable Player.
A native of Lexington, Ky., Shadwick led the team in kills per set (3.53) and finished second on the team in total kills (318). She posted 14 matches with double-digit kills, including a 19-kill, 15-dig performance in the Patriot League championship win over Army.
