Leadership and Women's Sense of Belonging in Organizations

How does holding a leadership position in an ethnic/racial/cultural organization impact sense of belonging among women of color college students at a PWI? My research hopes to share, document, and highlight the experiences of women of color in leadership who are deeply involved in creating the cultural scene on campus, and talk about opportunities and challenges holding these positions present. Presenter: Verenice Perez (she/her); Verenice Perez (she/her) is class of 2025 from Inglewood, California. Verenice is a sociology major with a double minor in anthropology and women's studies. While at Colgate, Verenice has been an ALANA Social Justice Peer Educator, and involved in leadership roles in the Latin American Student Organization and Queer and Trans People of Color (QTPOC). After Colgate, Verenice hopes to utilize her sociology research to support her community.
