This will be a presentation on the power of voter mobilization. This presentation will be centered around the efforts of the Vote For Equality Campaign, the independent expenditure of the feminist majority, and their inclusive approach to mobilizing young voters across college campuses. By addressing young people's issues and concerns, ranging from equality to the environment, the campaign gave a voice to many who felt underrepresented and unheard in society. The campaign reached a broader audience through issue-based campaigns that brought awareness to candidates' positions. Thus, ultimately, it centers on how the average person matters so much in an election because these issues often lead them to choose candidates that align with them.Presenter: Jaharra Anglin Stubbs (she/her) Jaharra Anglin Stubbs, a class of 2025, is from New York. Jaharra is a vibrant and socially aware member of her community. Jaharra has spent the last few years dedicated to the work of feminism and its efforts in hopes of one day promoting true quality. Currently, she is double majoring in political science and women’s studies. In her spare time, you can find Jaharra at sporting events, planning events as Minister of Community Development of the Caribbean Student Association. At her core, Jaharra wants to inspire the world around her and is willing to continue to contribute and create spaces for those who have been silenced.

Considering the significant role Black faculty and staff have in Black student's lives, "mentor" does not capture the extent of their work or the conditions in which Black educators must and have advocated for Black youth. This is especially true for those who the system has labeled as deviant in any way. This has led me to the conceptualization of the term self-propagation. Self-propagation refers the intentional and sacrificial act of investing pieces of oneself to make manifest the growth and humanization of another being. The act goes beyond what is typically expected or deemed necessary by cis-white-heteronormative culture to create optimum growth conditions.Presenter: Vianey Morris (she/her/hers) Vianey Morris (she/her/her) is a senior Colgate student from Chicago, IL. A double major in educational studies and Africana and Latin American studies (African American Studies concentration) she is interested DEIB work within schools. Vianey currently works at the ALANA Cultural Center as the Social Justice Peer Education lead, and has previously served as president of the Black Student Union.

I invite you to come crochet and learn about the gendered ideologies that surround homemaking. This hands-on presentation aims to deconstruct preconceived notions encompassing inherently gendered hobbies. Historically, the correlation between homemaking and femininity has been deeply rooted in forced gender norms, economic systems, and cultural expectations that inform the division of labor within the home. As a result, domesticated hobbies like knitting, sewing, and crocheting have come to be viewed as feminine endeavors pushing out masculine personalities. These crafts can be utilized as powerful tools in deconstructing rigid gender norms, providing space for self-expression, and challenging societal expectations. By reimagining the way these hobbies can be empowering, we can understand that certain skills associated with homemaking should not be associated with gender. This presentation invites individuals of all gender identities to attend to help reclaim masculinity in crafting as well as redefine femininity and feminism through crafting.Presenter: Joycelyn Brobbey (she/her/hers) Joycelyn Brobbey (she/her) is a junior from Princeton, New Jersey. She is currently double majoring in environmental studies and sociology. Joycelyn enjoys everything sustainability and often indulges in different creative mediums as a way to pass time and express herself. She served as a member and interim vice president of the Colgate-Acapella group, Mantiphondrakes. She is also currently a sustainability intern for the Office of Sustainability and hopes to pursue a career in environmental law in the near future.

This workshop aims to equip participants with a new tool aid to their problem solving toolkits: the LARA Method. Whether it is trying to become a more engaged listener, facilitating constructive dialogue, or trying to de-escalate sensitive topics the LARA method is a fantastically simple way to approach empathic listening. With the LARA method, we hope to minimize misunderstandings and create productive and sustained dialogue across differences.Presenters: Koko Nagatomo (she/her), Xose Agbadan (she/her) Koko Nagatomo, she/her, class of 2027. Koko was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. She is an InterGroup Dialogue (IGD) Intern at the ALANA Cultural Center and is currently pursuing a major in biology and a minor in Spanish. When she's not caught up in academics, Koko is busy running the Japan club or busy cooking.Xose Agbadan, she/her/hers, class of 2025. Xose grew up in Elkins Park, PA. She is a geography/theater major while also working as an InterGroup Dialogue (IGD) Intern. Xose is a passionate lover of beaches and an aspiring urbanist and city planner.
