Cultivating a Social Justice-Oriented Community at Colgate: CSL’s Journey
Saturday, February 1, 2025 11:10 AM – 12:00 PM
Description
During this session, we will discuss Colgate Students for Liberation (CSL)’s journey over the past year and then converse about the difficulty of navigating global social justice issues on campus. The session will begin with how CSL— a Colgate student organization devoted to the global movement against colonialism and towards justice — was created and mobilized on campus to set a foundation for a bigger conversation. Then, we will open the floor to a group discussion about ways of approaching topics deemed as controversial. We hope this session will help create an open and safe environment through which we can shape equitable and sustainable communities.Presenters: Diya Mehta (she/her/hers), Natalie Yale (she/her/hers)
