First-Years Lead Golf to Runner-Up Finish
BERLIN, Md. – First-years Jayden Freedman and Alex Hill tied for second, leading five Raiders in the top 20, as Colgate finished second in the Battle at Rum Pointe on Saturday afternoon.
Colgate took second out of 15 teams competing in the 36-hole tournament at Rum Pointe Seaside. The Raiders finished 1-under for the tournament with a two-day score of 288-287=575, trailing first-place Fairfield's 9-under team score of 288-279=567.
COACH KIRCHER'S COMMENTS
"It was an awesome battle today. Fairfield just outplayed us down the stretch. Super impressed by Jayden Freedman digging deep on the back nine and coming home with a 31. Our fifth team score today was a 74, so that shows how consistent we played. Some really good stuff out there, but a couple sloppy bogeys at the wrong time kept us out of the win. Definitely a good week for momentum and confidence."
