HAMILTON – The Raider March continues on to Washington, D.C., where third-seeded Colgate will meet second-seeded American in the Patriot League semifinals on Sunday afternoon. Tipoff from Bender Arena is 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. 

 

Setting the Scene

• Colgate is making its eighth consecutive Patriot League semifinal appearance – but this one is on the road for the first time since 2009. The two teams meet in the postseason for the first time since 2015. The Raiders are 0-6 all-time against the Eagles in the postseason. 
• American has won four of the last five head-to-head matchups including both regular season meetings in 2025. The last time the Raiders were swept during the regular season (Lafayette, 2020), Colgate went on to dispatch the Leopards in the semifinals, 89-64.
• The Raiders are seeking their eighth consecutive Patriot League championship game appearance dating back to 2018.

Head-to-Head Series Notes

• The two teams met just over a week ago in Hamilton, where American spoiled Colgate's senior day for the second year in a row, 67-59, in the regular season finale on March 1. The Eagles took down the Raiders in the first meeting 81-77 on January 25 in Washington, D.C.
• Colgate is searching for its first head-to-head win in the series since January 2024. The Raiders' last win in the series came at Bender Arena, 73-54, in late January last season.

• Colgate has won 13 straight Patriot League tournament games on its way to four consecutive championships. The Raiders have advanced to the NCAA tournament each year since 2021 and five times in the last six years under 14th-year head coach Matt Langel, who just became the league leader in all-time tournament wins (22).
