Lucia Named Colgate Volleyball Assistant Coach
HAMILTON – After four medal-winning performances as the head coach for Brooklyn Elite Volleyball, Olivia Lucia has been named the new assistant coach for Colgate Volleyball, announced by head coach Ryan Baker.
Lucia served the past year as the head coach for Brooklyn Elite Volleyball, a premier youth volleyball club competing at the national level while developing athletes from beginner to elite levels. She won four medals in Brooklyn: GEVA Champion, GEVA Runner-Up, and two bronze bracket championships.
"We are very excited about Olivia joining our program," Baker said. "She has a passion for the sport and coaching, has been a part of championship programs at different levels, and is hungry and eager to learn. It will also be great to have someone who was recently in our player's shoes. She understands what it takes to be a successful Division I student-athlete. We are excited for her arrival."
A 2025 graduate of Long Island University, Lucia played collegiately for the Sharks where she helped lead the team to a Northeast Conference championship in 2023. She compiled 52 kills and 41 blocks in 22 matches during the championship season, which saw LIU advance to the NCAA tournament.
"I'm incredibly honored and excited to join Colgate Volleyball as an assistant coach," Lucia said. "As a collegiate athlete myself, I'm eager to share the knowledge I've gained with this team's student-athletes in a way that aligns with the program's goals and successes. I want to thank Coach Baker and his staff for welcoming me into this opportunity, and I'm looking forward to learning from them to contribute to the team's continued success."
Lucia spent her first two years of college as a two-sport athlete, competing in both indoor and beach volleyball at the University of Tennessee-Martin, from 2020-22.
Originally from Piqua, Ohio, Lucia graduated Cum Laude from Long Island University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
