Raiders Roll to First Patriot League Win, 17-11

"This is the first one we have been able to take home and to be able to do it on our home field is great. Alumni Weekend has been awesome and having the alumni behind the goal, cheering for our defense and offense, it was a really fun day. We are super excited to bring home this first Patriot League win."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • American struck first with a goal in the opening 90 seconds before the Raiders went on a four-goal surge.
  • Aubrey McMahon netted two goals while Ella Bishara and Kendall Belanger each laced one apiece on the run.
  • The Eagles ended the 4-0 run to cut into the Raiders lead but Kait Henning responded with a converted free position.
  • McMahon completed herĀ first quarter hat trick and helped the Raiders take a 6-2 lead after one quarter.
  • Henning and Bishara scored in quick succession to begin the second frame and extended the Colgate lead to 8-2.
  • American answered with two goals before McMahon and Bishara continued their dominance in front of goal with a tally apiece.
  • Lucy Licata closed out the first half with a goal for the Raiders as they remained in front 11-5 at the break.
  • The visitors came out in the second half and netted two player-advantage goals to cut the Colgate lead to 11-7.
  • American tallied another to put pressure on the Raiders but Lucy Lederman fired her second goal of the season to re-establish a five-goal lead for Colgate.
  • Henning completed her hat trick sandwiched between two American goals as the Raiders took a 14-10 lead into the final frame.
  • Bishara scored the first goal for either side in the fourth quarter with less than nine minutes left in the game.
  • Licata picked up a shot off the post and fired it home for the Raiders 17th of the game.

GAME NOTES

  • Ella Bishara scored a career-high six goals, extending her goal streak to nine games while tallying 12 in the last three games.
  • Lucy Licata finished with a career-high 18 draw controls. The senior now sits 15 draw controls away from setting a new single season program record.
  • Aubrey McMahon posted four goals bringing her season tally to 23 in her first year at Colgate.
  • Nelle Kniffin logged two caused turnovers and two ground balls, she leads the Raiders in both categories.

Colgate (5-6, 1-3) takes on Bucknell next Saturday at Andy Kerr Stadium with the game scheduled for 11 a.m. The Raiders will recognize theirĀ nine seniors prior to the game.
