Stats Perform Walter Payton Watch List HAMILTON –

Colgate Football's senior wide receiver Treyvhon Saunders added to his preseason awards collection by landing on FCS Stats Perform's Walter Payton Watch List, featuring 30 top football student-athletes across the nation, announced Tuesday by the organization.

Saunders' preseason recognition includes All-America Third Team laurels by FCS Stats Perform and All-Patriot League honors. The senior standout has amassed 180 receptions totaling 1,975 receiving yards, nine touchdowns; 17 rushes totaling 96 yards; five kickoff returns totaling 37 yards, and three punt returns for 26 yards. He is a two-time All-League First Team and All-ECAC honoree.

Saunders' record-breaking junior campaign saw him set the program's single-season receptions mark, finishing second in the FCS and fifth in all of college football with 88 receptions. Averaging 7.3 grabs per contest, which also were a school record, Saunders totaled 831 receiving yards with two touchdowns.

An economics major from Columbus, Ohio, Saunders enters his senior season 41 receptions away from Luke Graham's '05 program record of 221 career grabs. Graham, a three-time All-Patriot League honoree who holds multiple program records, starred on the 2003 team that reached the FCS National Championship.

Walter Payton Award
The award, in its 39th season and affectionately known as the Heisman of the FCS, is named for legendary running back Walter Payton, who starred at Jackson State as part of his Hall of Fame career. Past recipients include Steve McNair, Tony Romo, Brian Westbrook, Jimmy Garoppolo and Cooper Kupp; Montana State's Tommy Mellott was last season's winner. All 13 FCS conferences are represented on the watch list, which includes nine past finalists. This season's recipient will be announced at the Stats Perform National Awards Banquet on Jan. 3, 2026 in Nashville, Tennessee.
