Women's Hockey Adds Eight Newcomers

HAMILTON - Colgate Women's Hockey Head Coach Stefan Decosse has announced the addition of seven first-years and one transfer to the 2025-26 Raiders roster. The newcomers come from six different states and provinces including six Canadians and two Americans.

"We're thrilled to welcome this year's incoming class to the Colgate Hockey family. They arrive with a proven record of success on the sport's biggest amateur stage - world championships, national tournaments, and provincial or state titles - while embodying a relentless competitiveness that fits our identity," Decosse said.

"Their blend of skill, genuine love for the game, and commitment to academic growth will strengthen both our program and the Hamilton community. I'm proud of our staff's diligence in bringing in student-athletes who will strengthen our culture from day one."

Forward Ava Wood joins the Raiders, a four-year letterwinner at Appleby College, where she won two CISSA championships. Wood tallied 18 goals and 27 assists in 36 games for the Etobicoke Junior Dolphins (OWHA U22) and secured a gold medal at the 2025 IIHF U18 Women's Worlds with Team Canada.

A fellow member of the Etobicoke Junior Dolphins (OWHA U22), Emma Beauchamp will join the maroon and white. Beauchamp scored 33 goals and added 26 assists in 29 games as assistant captain in 2024-25. She won silver medals with the U18 Team Québec at the Canada games in 2022-23 and 2023-24.

To round out the trio of Etobicoke Junior Dolphins (OWHL U22), we welcome defenseman Sydney Sawyer. Sawyer scored eight goals and added 23 assists in the 2024-25 season with the Dolphins. The Ontario native donned the Maple Leaf in the 2025 IIHF U18 Women's Worlds and won the gold medal.

Vermont native Taylor Senecal will join Colgate after helping Essex High School to the Vermont State Championship in 2025. Senecal notched 33 goals and 10 assists as a senior and won Player of the Year along with the 2025 Vermont Miss Hockey Award. She won gold with the USA U18 Worlds team in 2023 and has been with the USA camp since 2022.

A three-sport athlete at Groton School, Madison Cronan joins the Raiders. Cronan was selected to the All-League teams for hockey, lacrosse, and field hockey while also becoming the second player in school history to eclipse 100 points on the ice. She led the 2025 team to the NEPSAC Elite 8 playoffs for the first time in program history and was honored with the Cornelia Amory Frothingham Athletic Prize Winner given to the female student-athlete who has shown exemplary qualities of leadership and sportsmanship.

Dorothy Copetti heads to Hamilton after scoring the winning goal in the 2024 U18 Women's National Championship for Team Ontario Red. Copetti has won gold in the 2024 and 2025 U18 Women's National Championship and with U18 Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship. The Toronto native played for the Durham West Lightning Junior Team (OWHA) serving as assistant captain in 2023-24 and captain in 2024-25 season. Copetti scored 21 goals and dished 19 assists in 37 games as captain.

Chloe Goofers is the lone transfer for the incoming class after playing her first season at Merrimack College. Goofers led first years in scoring with seven goals and 12 assists while also blocking 16 shots. Goofers won the AFHL MVP while playing for the Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs in 2024. She was selected to the U18 Team Canada top 46 in 2023 and played for Team Alberta at the Canada Winter Games and at U18 Women's National Championship.

In between the pipes, Colgate will add the 2024 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships Top Goaltender, Brooke Davis. Davis played with Edge Prep Boys teams from 2021-25, helping them earn the silver medal at the Western Canadian Crown in 2021-22 and playoff semifinalists in 2022-23. She was the netminder for Team Alberta at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships and secured their first ever silver medal in 2024.
