BOSTON — Colgate Softball couldn't get going in Boston, falling to the Terriers 6-0 and 11-0 in a doubleheader Friday afternoon at BU's Softball Complex.
The two games, originally scheduled for Saturday, were moved up to Friday due to inclement weather in the forecast for Saturday afternoon. Analisa Raffaelli and Jillian Herbst each had an extra base hit, while Quinn Livesay and Claire Whalen picked up one hit apiece.
Game 1 | Boston U 6, Colgate 0
- Herbst opened the game with a double to left center in the top of the first. Unfortunately Colgate's next hit wouldn't come until Whalen's infield single in the top of the third.
- The Terriers led 3-0 after three innings and then padded their lead with three more in the bottom of the fifth, carried by four hits including back-to-back doubles, to build a 6-0 lead.
- The Raiders couldn't get their bats going, eventually falling 6-0 in Game 1.
Game 2 | Boston U 11, Colgate 0 (5)
- A similar start to Game 2 saw Raffaeli open the game with a leadoff double to dead center. She stole third one batter later, but unfortunately was stranded there after BU's pitcher induced a strikeout, popout, and lineout, to end the frame unscathed.
- Boston U did most of its damage in the home half of the second inning, scoring nine runs on the strength of seven hits aided by a couple defensive miscues. Libby Walsh capped the scoring in the inning with an RBI single to stretch the home team's lead to 9-0.
- Livesay added a single in the third inning, but that would be Colgate's final baserunner. The Terriers tacked on two more runs in the fourth to take the doubleheader with an 11-0 victory.
