HAMILTON — Colgate softball dropped an 8-4 decision to Army in game one of a decisive regular season-ending series. An early 3-0 lead for the Raiders was erased when the Black Knights scored in four out of the final five frames, including a three-score seventh.

Adrienne Nardone doubled home Kiley Shelton to open the scoring in the bottom of the first, and an Alexis Romero single partnered with a Rachel Carney RBI asserted an early 3-0 lead after two innings.

Army fought back over the next two innings to tie the score, but Niamh Dougherty put the Raiders back in front with a solo shot over the left field wall.

It was the last lead of the day for the home side, however, as the visitors took control with two runs in the fifth and a three-run final stanza that swung the victory to the Black Knights.
