COACH HOKANSON'S COMMENTS
"Happy to come away with a win tonight. Lots of credit to Marist, they really challenged us in the way that they pressed and with the physicality they played with. I think in moments we showed some great toughness and resilience to see the game through. We'll definitely take lessons from tonight which is always more fun to do when you win than otherwise. Super happy that we continue to find production from new faces and also am proud of the depth of our team and the way that our whole group is contributing to our results on game day. Looking forward to another challenging test on Sunday at Cornell."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a cagey opening 20 minutes, Josie Tunney found a bit of space inside the Marist 18-yard box and clipped the ball into the top right corner of the net to give Colgate a 1-0 lead. Ava McCloskey assisted the opening goal for her first assist of the season.
- Colgate held Marist to just one shot in the opening half and held onto a 1-0 advantage.
- Ella Poppinga made a full-stretch save in the 60th minute to keep the Raiders in the lead.
- Moments later, Nikki DiCaprio buried a loose ball off a corner kick to double the Colgate lead.
- Marist was able to get one back with under 12 minutes left on a corner kick.
- Ana Schremp had a header fall wide with under 10 minutes left in the game.
- Colgate's defense held strong for the final stretch of the match and the Raiders earned their first win of 2025.
