Raiders Fall to Quinnipiac
SYRACUSE — The Colgate men's tennis team fell to Quinnipiac on Sunday afternoon. The Raiders won five of six first sets in singles action after losing the doubles point but fell 5-2 overall after the Bobcats roared back to take four singles matches.
"Out of our 11 matches, that is one I desperately want back," said Head Coach Bobby Pennington. "Any time you win the five first sets, you should win the match, so that was a physical and mental lapse. Game balls to Lee and Lochlan for only two guys who won both this weekend. We need to get healthy and regroup for Holy Cross Saturday."
The Bobcats came roaring out of the gate, taking lines one and two doubles 6-2, and 6-3, respectively. The Raiders' only doubles win came from the sophomore duo of Parker McGowan and Jerome Falcon, who won 6-4 at line three.
Colgate bounced back from the doubles point loss immediately, with first-year Lochlan Seth taking court five 6-4, 6-1. The Raiders took their first lead of the match with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph by junior Aidan Lee at line three. However, the Bobcats would take lines one and two shortly after to take a commanding 3-2 lead overall. The contest came down to two third sets at lines four and five, where senior captain Ben Graham fell 6-3, 6-7(7-5), 4-6, and Falcon lost 6-2, 4-6, 2-6.
The Raiders return to action on Saturday, taking on Holy Cross at noon in Worcester, Mass.
