Colgate Tops Stonehill on Senior Day
Box Score HAMILTON – Colgate finished the regular season on a high note with a dominant 6-1 win against Stonehill on Sunday afternoon inside Sanford Field House. The Raiders only dropped three sets in the entire duel as they swept singles two through six.
"The men continued their turnaround weekend with a complete start-to-finish victory over a solid Stonehill team," Head Coach Bobby Pennington said. "We have great momentum now headed into the league tournament playing our best tennis with our best lineup. The main thing today is that we raised a lot of money and sold a lot of shirts for heart awareness."
The doubles decision fell Colgate's way early after Benito Vlassis/Josh Israel and Parker McGowan/Jerome Falcon handled business on courts one and three, respectively.
Israel ended the duel and weekend undefeated after jumping on his court two opponent 6-1 in the first set and forcing a retirement 31 minutes into his match.
Falcon, Aidan Lee, and senior Mike Thomas outscored Stonehill 36-9 in singles three, four and five, while Aidan Chung added an 8-3 win in the sixth slot to complete the perfect weekend for Colgate.
