HAMILTON – MG King and Natalie Hofer contributed to six of the team's eight victories in helping lead Colgate women's swimming and diving to a 155-144 win over St. Bonaventure in dual action Saturday afternoon inside Lineberry Natatorium.

Prior to the meet, the Colgate men's and women's swimming and diving programs honored their 19 seniors celebrating their final regular season meet in Hamilton.

COACH PRETRE'S COMMENTS

"Total team effort today. That was a very good St Bonaventure team that we raced. It was one of those meets where every point mattered and we knew it was going to come down to the last relay to win the meet. Thankfully the total effort that the team achieved put us in there and our sprinters closed it out for the victory. I'm proud of our seniors with the men and women. They have no doubt left this team in a much better place when they found it."

HOW IT HAPPENED

Colgate won eight events in total and racked up 25 top-three finishes with eight second-place tallies and nine bronze finishes. King won three individual events, followed by two from Hofer, and they were both in Colgate's first-place 400 Medley Relay quartet that took the top spot.

The 400 Medley Relay team with King, Hofer, Audrey Collins, and Brooke Garretson claimed gold with a time of 3:52.42, more than a full second faster than St. Bonaventure's closest quartet.

King's first individual gold took place in the 200 Free, where they clocked in with a time of 1:54.84, leading their teammate Lucy Art who placed second with a time of 1:56.83. King also dominated the 200 Back, taking gold by more than two seconds over St. Bonaventure's closest finisher.

King's third and most convincing victory of the day came in the 500 Free, where they turned in a time of 5:11.43, which was five seconds faster than their nearest competitor.

Hofer's first gold came in the 100 Breast, which was a Colgate sweep in the top three, clocking in at 1:06.96 to pace teammates Collins (1:07.19) and Garretson (1:08.81) who finished second and third, respectively. Hofer also took first in the 200 Breast (2:28.82), besting St. Bonaventure's runner-up finisher's time of 2:29.02.

Emma Senglaub won a tight race in the 200 Fly with a first-place time of 2:10.66, just ahead of St. Bonaventure's second-place swimmer's time of 2:10.77.

Colgate's final win of the day came in the The 200 Free Relay, where the quartet of Elizabeth Rainey, Heather O'Day, Art, and Garretson paced the field to the wall with a first-place time of 1:37.75, just over a full second faster than St. Bonaventure's closest quartet.
