Raiders Bombard Bison in 9-3 Win

HAMILTON — Adrienne Nardone, Kara Fusco and Rachel Carney all hit home runs while Bailey Misken tied her season-high with nine strikeouts as Colgate triumphed over Bucknell, 9-3, on a rainy Sunday morning in Hamilton. The win marks the third time this year the Raiders have crushed three or more home runs in a game, the first time a Colgate team has achieved the feat in over three years.

"Despite the tough conditions out there today our team really showed up," Head Coach Marissa Lamison-Myers said. "The long ball was a key factor in our success and Bailey was herself and pitched well. Hopefully, with better weather tomorrow, we can come out where we left off."

In addition to Carney, Kiley Shelton tallied her 10th multi-hit game of the Spring and scored two runs. She now has accounted for the most runs out of all rookies in the Patriot League.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Carney logged her 100th career hit in the first at-bat of the game which set the stage for Nardone's sixth home run of the season, tied for second-most in the Patriot League, to kick off the first inning of play.

Misken ran into some trouble early after back-to-back singles and a stolen base put a runner on third with no outs. The Bison capitalized on the advantage with a four hit, three run inning which put Bucknell in front by one after three.

However, that was all Misken would concede as she mowed down seven out of the next eight Bison batters and only allowed one additional hit across the final four innings. She finished her 12th complete game of the season with nine strikeouts on 129 pitches, only surrendering five hits and three earned runs.

While Misken worked her magic in the circle, Fusco's three-run shot catapulted the Raiders in front before Nardone logged her third RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

A 7-3 advantage did not satisfy Carney, who launched her second long ball of the season to terminate Colgate's losing streak at five games.
