Women’s Rowing Duels Cornell and George Washington
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Colgate women's rowing team faced tough competition in dual meets against Cornell and George Washington as part of the Cayuga Duals on Saturday.
The Raiders launched four boats in a double dual meet day. They were each matched up with an opposing boat from George Washington in the morning, and Cornell in the afternoon.
Facing cross-conference match-ups was a tough task for the Raiders as they fell to both teams in all four boats.
MORNING SESSION
Colgate's 1V8, coming off Patriot League Boat of the Week honors, crossed the finish at 7:13.1, three seconds off the pace of George Washington's boat which crossed at 7:03.9. Colgate's 1V4 clocked in with a time of 8:49.3, falling to GW's time of 8:12.9.
Colgate's 2V8 held a closer race, but ultimately GW remained ahead with a time of 7:35.31, besting Colgate's second varsity eight time of 7:48.4. Colgate's 2V4 secured a time of 8:29.09.
AFTERNOON SESSION
Colgate returned to the water to face Cornell in their next dual meet, with Colgate's 1V8 securing a time of 7:30.1 which was topped by Cornell's time of 7:14.5.
Colgate's 2V8 followed the Big Red across the finish with a time of 8:01.9. Colgate's 1V4 secured a time of 9:16.8, while the 2V4 earned a time of 9:42.3.
