HAMILTON - Taylor Golembiewski led the team in scoring for the second straight game with 19 points and helped the Raiders overcome an early deficit to defeat Loyola 68-57 at Cotterell Court on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Taylor Golembiewski drove inside and finished underneath the basket to get the Raiders going early before Loyola scored five straight unanswered and took a 7-2 lead.
• The Greyhounds continued to apply early pressure on Colgate and held a 12-6 lead at the first media timeout.
• The Raiders finished the first quarter on a 7-2 run, including a triple from Sophia Diehl at the end of the frame to cut the deficit to just one.
• Morgan McMahon fought for a loose rebound that made its way to Golembiewski who drilled a three to spark a 7-0 run to start the second quarter and help the Raiders take a 20-14 lead.
• Loyola responded with a 7-2 run of its own to cut the Colgate lead to 24-21 halfway through the second quarter.
• Lara Cook hit a corner three after Sophia Diehl nailed a jumper from the top of the key and Colgate held a 29-23 advantage at the halftime break.
• Golembiewski scored the first bucket of the second half two minutes in off a steal from Christina Midgette and helped Colgate take a 31-23 lead.
• Loyola scored two baskets sandwiching a Midgette free throw to cut the Raiders lead to 32-27.
• The Greyhounds used a five-point surge to get within two.
• Both teams traded buckets and the Raiders kept a 38-35 lead heading into the fourth.
• Golembiewski scored four straight Colgate points to start the fourth quarter but Loyola kept pace and the Raiders maintained a three point lead.
• Lara Cook finished a feed from Midgette that sparked a 10-4 run for the Raiders and pushed the lead to nine with under four minutes left.
• Morgan McMahon, Taylor Golembiewski, and Anne Bair hit 19 straight free throws down the stretch to ice the game and give the Raiders a 68-57 win.

GAME NOTES

• Colgate equaled its most wins ever in a season (21) with three regular season games remaining, the Raiders also matched their program-best 11 Patriot League wins in a season.
• Taylor Golembiewski led the team in scoring for the 13th time this season and finished the week averaging 19.5 points per game.
• The Raiders went 24-for-25 (96%) from the line, including 19 straight makes to finish the game.
• The maroon and white matched their longest win streak in Patriot League play since 2004 with six consecutive wins and completed the season sweep over Loyola for the first time since the 2020 COVID-19 season.
