COACH LANGEL'S COMMENTS

"Really balanced scoring effort. Guys picked their times. We were able to get the ball inside. Our defense was really good. We did let a 15-point lead get cut in half going into the break but the guys came out with a chip on their shoulder and re-established the tone of the game in the second half. All around a good road team win that we certainly needed. Saturday will be a different style of a game at Boston U. Quick turnaround. We have to work on some things in preparation for another tough road test this weekend."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Louis-Jacques scored five straight points and canned his first of two 3-pointers to give Colgate an early 8-4 lead. The Raiders never trailed again, extending their lead to as many as 15 points in the opening stanza after Baker's first of three triples gave Colgate a 31-16 advantage.
  • Holy Cross ended the frame with an 8-2 mini surge led by back-to-back 3-pointers from Max Green to trim the deficit to a seven-point margin, 38-31, at the intermission. Cox led the team with eight points at the break and he continued to lead the team in the second stanza.
  • Inside layups from Woodward, Louis-Jacques, and Cox pushed Colgate's lead back to double-digits for good three minutes into the second half. Cox and Louis-Jacques ensued with back-to-back triples and then Jones turned a steal into a runaway dunk to extend the lead to 58-40 with 13:15 remaining.
  • Colgate used another late 9-0 run capped by a 3-pointer and driving layup from Jones on consecutive possessions to stretch the lead to 22 points, 78-56, with just under six minutes left. The Raiders led by as many as 21 points after two free throws from Cox in the late stages of the game.
  • The Raiders dominated the second half for the second straight game, shooting 61.3 percent in the second stanza and outscoring the Crusaders 49-34 over the final 20 minutes to pull away.
