Raiders Open Season in Harry Lang Invitational

HAMILTON – The Colgate men's and women's cross country teams opened up the 2024 season on Saturday morning at the Harry Lang Invitational.

HAMILTON The Colgate men's and women's cross country teams opened up the 2024 season on Saturday morning at the Harry Lang Invitational.

After an hour delay and plenty of rain the Raiders weathered the storm, competing in their first cross country meet of the season.COACH FRANCE'S COMMENTS

"Today was a special day with a special group of men and women. I couldn't have asked for a better season opener for our program. On the men's side we have so much depth that anyone could have been within our scoring five today. Despite some tough conditions and sitting out some of our guys who are preparing to open their season later, I was impressed by their poise and grit across the board.

"On our women's side, I don't believe in the history of our program that our scoring five athletes have been all first years. I'm beyond grateful for the focus and commitment I've seen from our women and the selfless leadership shown by our two captains and upperclassmen.

"Clearly a ton of talent and now having depth in numbers has put us in a great position as we kick off the year."

The first Raider to cross the finish line was Eleanor Droege posting a time of 19:00.0, placing eighth in the meet. Annie Reilly came in at 19:20.9 finishing in the top ten while Lucia Pew was able to secure 12th finishing with a time of 19:34.3.
