BRONX, N.Y.  — Junior linebacker Cole Kozlowski posted a game-high 13 stops with two tackles-for-a-loss, a pair of sacks and an interception in Colgate's narrow 20-14 loss at Fordham on Saturday afternoon. His two quarterback take downs were part of eight total sacks on the day for Colgate, the most by a Raider roster since 2017. 

Senior linebacker Christian Sweeney also chipped in 11 stops, his second game this season with double-digit tackles, while senior linebacker Brody Hock added his first career forced fumble and sack to go along with eight tackles. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Raider defense stood tall on Fordham's opening drive, handing the ball back to the offense after stifling a quarterback sneak on fourth-and-short. Six punts ensued as both offenses could only muster 86 combined yards in the scoreless first quarter.
• Hock punched a fumble out which pinned Fordham deep in its own territory, and sophomore quarterback Jake Stearney capitalized with an eight-yard strike to sophomore wide receiver Reed Swanson, the first score of the game.
• The Rams tied the affair at seven with a touchdown out of halftime, but Stearney answered with a career-long 27-yard scamper to reassert the Raiders' lead.
• Sophomore defensive lineman Ashawn Sims kept the momentum rolling for the Raiders, punching out another fumble on the next possession. Colgate could not add on to the lead and instead turned the ball over on downs two minutes later just past midfield.
• Fordham took advantage of the lapse, knotting the score with a 41-yard touchdown run just before the third quarter ended.
• The home side scored the go-ahead touchdown five minutes into the fourth, and Colgate was only afforded two offensive drives in the final 15 minutes, both of which ended in punts.
• The Raiders defense held strong one last time forcing a three-and-out with under two minutes to play, but a running into the kicker penalty on the Fordham punt allowed the Rams to keep possession and end the game in victory formation.

GAME NOTES

• Junior wide receiver Treyvhon Saunders caught six passes for 68 yards, his seventh-consecutive game with six or more receptions. He is now fifth all-time for most receptions in program history with 156 grabs, trailing Pat Simonds '09 who graduated with 171 passes caught.
• The eight sacks by Colgate's defense are the most since a 21-7 win against Cornell back on Sept. 30, 2017.
• Sophomore defensive lineman Justin Tedim logged first sack of the season, also stripping the ball from Fordham's quarterback for his first-career forced fumble. 
• Stearney's 27-yard touchdown run is the longest rush of the sophomore's career.
• Senior defensive lineman Andrew Taddeo achieved new career-highs with seven tackles and 2.5 sacks. 
• Sophomore defensive back Tymir Wynn recorded a new personal-best nine solo tackles.
