Herzig’s 67 Fuels Third Place Finish

APALACHIN, N.Y. – Robbie Herzig's second-round 67 vaulted him to a third-place finish in the Matthews Auto Collegiate hosted by Binghamton at the Links at Hiawatha Landing. Colgate stayed put as a team, finishing tied with Siena for sixth place on the leaderboard.

Robbie Herzig's second-round 67 vaulted him to a third-place finish in the Matthews Auto Collegiate hosted by Binghamton at the Links at Hiawatha Landing. Colgate stayed put as a team, finishing tied with Siena for sixth place on the leaderboard. 

Herzig's five-under 67 gave him a two-day total of 139 (-5) after firing an even par on Sunday. The senior cupped six birdies in the closing round to tie Iona's Sean Richards for the lowest single-round score in the tournament. 

The Raiders carried nine golfers in the local tournament that fielded 104 golfers from 17 different teams. Colgate's two-day total of 585 (+9) finished four strokes behind Laval for fifth place. Sacred Heart took the team crown with a 13-under team score of 563. 

Brayden Dock for the second consecutive week posted a top-20 finish, this time landing in 17th place behind a 73-72=145 (+1) two-day total. Justin Fedele tied for 33rd place (+4), followed by Chad Ruggiero and Jayden Freedman who tied for 36th place (+5). 

UP NEXT
The Raiders close out the fall schedule next weekend, when they look to defend their title at the three-day Bucknell Invitational starting Sunday, Oct. 13. Colgate won the tournament last year behind an 839 team score – the lowest 54-hole score in program history.
