HAMILTON – Colgate Golf opens its 2025-26 season this weekend when the Raiders host the annual Alex Lagowitz Memorial on Saturday and Sunday at Seven Oaks Golf Club.
The Raiders welcome more than 100 golfers from 14 teams to the annual 54-hole tournament. The teams will play 36 holes on Saturday, followed by a final 18 on Sunday. Shotgun start on both days is set for 9 a.m. Seven Oaks, a par-72 course in Hamilton, N.Y., is playing 7,125 yards from the black tees.
"Hosting the Alex Lagowitz Memorial is always the most exciting part of our fall," said head coach JP Kircher entering his third year at the helm. "This is our home event of the fall, with friends and family here to support. I'm looking forward to seeing how the guys worked at their games over the summer and excited to get off to a good start. Seven Oaks is a gem of a golf course and is always in great shape for our home event. We have a full field and I'm hopeful our team will be in the mix come Sunday!"

Leo Li is Colgate's top returner after tying for fourth in last year's tournament as a sophomore with an even par score. The junior fired a team-best 69 in the final round to secure All-Patriot League First Team honors for the first time in his collegiate career.
The Raiders earned six top-10 finishes last year, including a pair of second-place tallies at the Battle at Rum Pointe and Bucknell Invitational. Sophomore returners Jayden Freedman and Alex Hill were the leaders in both of those tournaments. Freedman and Hill tied for second in Rum Pointe, while Hill finished seventh to lead the way at Bucknell.
Colgate is seeking to win the Alex Lagowitz for the first time since going back-to-back in 2009 and 2010. The Raiders finished fifth at last year's home tournament, led by a fourth-place finish from graduating senior Robbie Herzig. Hill and Jamison Bryant finished 23rd and 29th, respectively. Last season, Seton Hall and Navy took co-medalist honors with a 3-under team scorecard.
Following the Alex Lagowitz Memorial, Colgate will travel to Annapolis, Md., to compete in the Navy Fall Invitational "The Goat" Sept. 20-21. The Raiders will compete in five total fall tournaments, including the Bucknell Invitational, where Colgate has won twice since 2019.
About Seven Oaks
Named for the ancestral home of the Colgate family, Seven Oaks Golf Club is nestled on the Colgate University Campus at the upper end of the Chenango Valley, in Hamilton, New York. In 1934, a young architect by the name of Robert Trent Jones was brought to Hamilton to begin work on designing the course as one of his first projects. Unfortunately, due to the great depression and WWII, the course and his plans were continuously postponed.
It was not until 1956 that ground was broken on the first nine holes, officially opening on July 4, 1958. Construction for the remainder soon began and on September 4th, 1965 the last nine holes were opened for play. Seven Oaks is characteristic of all Jones' courses, which include strategic deployment of water, along with extensive tee areas and large, expansive greens.
