Men's Hockey Ends Regular Season Strong
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Raiders scored four unanswered goals in the second period to pull ahead 4-0 before taking a 5-1 win at Union to conclude the regular season Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Daniel Panetta sealed the deal with an empty-net goal with just over six and a half minutes left in the third.
- Andrew Takacs stopped eight shots in the final period, holding Union scoreless.
- The teams combined for five goals in the second, with the Raiders outscoring Union 4-1 following a 4-0 run to start the period.
- Caden Villegas got Union on the board with just under two minutes remaining in the period, making it 4-1.
- Ben Raymond put Colgate up 4-0 at the 2:11 mark with his second goal of the game, a shorthanded one. Following a faceoff win, Michael Neumeier took the puck down the ice and passed to Niko Rexine, who quickly played it to Raymond for a shot he buried.
- Jacob Napier had made it 3-0 with just under seven and a half minutes left. Max Nagel passed to Brett Merner, who fired a shot wide of the goal. The puck bounced around the boards and out to Napier, who ripped a one-timer into the back of the net.
- Brett Chorske notched Colgate's second goal just under eight minutes into the middle frame. Tommy Bergsland passed to Antonio Fernandez. The sophomore skated around the goal before passing to Chorske who ripped one in from just past the blue line.
- Raymond gave the Raiders a 1-0 advantage with his first goal at the 17:02 mark of the second. Rexine collected the rebound of a Union shot and took it down the ice before dropping a pass back to Raymond for a wrister he fired home.
- Neither side could find the back of the net in the first, but the Raiders outshot the Garnet Chargers 16-9.
- Takacs held the Garnet Chargers off the scoreboard in the first, stopping nine shots.
GAME NOTES
- Rexine has recorded a point in three straight games.
- Raymond recorded the first multi-goal game of his career.
- Napier (1G, 1A) and Rexine (2A) posted the first multi-point games of their careers.
- Takacs finished with 28 saves in goal.
UP NEXT
The Raiders are off next weekend after earning an ECAC playoff opening-round bye. Colgate will host the third lowest remaining seed in a best-of-three ECAC quarterfinal series March 14-16. All three games will start at 7 p.m. inside the Class of 1965 Arena. Quarterfinal tickets will go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m.
