Takacs Voted ECAC Goalie of the Week
CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Andrew Takacs was named ECAC Hockey MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week Monday.
Takacs posted a 0.50 goals-against average and a .985 save percentage while stopping 64 shots in wins at Clarkson and St. Lawrence last weekend.
The junior recorded his first career shutout during the Raiders' 2-0 victory over the Golden Knights Friday, making 29 saves.
He recorded seven saves in the opening frame, shutting down some early chances by Clarkson. In the second, Takacs stopped 10 shots, including six in the final 2:33. The netminder completed the clean sheet with 12 saves in the third.
Takacs stayed hot the following night, stopping 35 shots and allowing just one goal in a 6-1 win over the Saints.
He held St. Lawrence scoreless in the opening frame with seven saves and followed that with nine in the second. Takacs stopped 19 shots in the third, his most in a period this season, also keeping the Saints off the scoreboard.
The Bowie, Md., native has been solid in ECAC play for the Raiders, recording 327 saves, second-most in the league. Takacs earned a weekly award from the ECAC for the first time in his career.
Colgate returns home this weekend, facing off against Union Friday and RPI Saturday. Both games start at 7 p.m.
