ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Jack Brandt scored his first career goal, the game-winner, in the third period to lift Colgate past RIT 4-3 and earn the Raiders a weekend sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Brandt found the back of the net with just under 15 minutes left in the third to put Colgate ahead 4-3. Ben Raymond played the puck to Ryan Sullivan, who skated in and tried to sneak a shot past the goalie that got stopped. The netminder thought he covered the puck, but it came loose, and Brandt pounced on it, putting it home.
• The teams exchanged blows at the start of the third. Eighteen seconds in, Brett Chorske gave the Raiders a 3-2 advantage. Reid Irwin played a pass ahead to his classmate, and Chorske got behind the defense, skating in and maneuvering around the goalie to score.
• RIT answered with a tally from Andrew Tanner a minute later to make it 3-3. The Tigers also netted the lone goal in the second period when Simon Isabelle put one in on a power play at the 5:54 mark, making it 2-2.
• The home side took a 1-0 lead with a goal from Tristan Allen on a power play 6:45 into the first.
• Just 19 seconds later, Chorske responded. Following a faceoff, Tommy Bergsland collected the puck and passed down low to Alex DiPaolo, who quickly hit Max Nagel. The first-year ripped a one-timer that got saved, but the rebound bounced out to Chorske, who finished it home.
• Daniel Panetta fired one in on a power play with just over a minute left in the first to give Colgate its first lead at 2-1. The junior received a pass from Michael Neumeier and then fed it down low to Chorske before quickly getting it back and rifling a one-timer into the goal. 
• The Raiders held off a late surge from the Tigers. Andrew Takacs made a big save with three seconds remaining in the game to seal the deal. He stopped seven shots in the third.
• Colgate also had two power-play chances in the final 20 minutes that it could not convert.

"We battled hard this week in practice and it carried over to the weekend. To contribute and get my first goal, especially a go-ahead goal, felt unreal, and to get the sweep felt even better. I am proud of the boys this weekend, we earned it."

GAME NOTES

• Chorske logged the fifth three-point game of his career with two goals and an assist. He finished the weekend with four points (3G, 1 A).
• Nagel and DiPaolo also logged a helper to complete a four-point weekend, each tallying a goal and three assists.
• Takacs finished with 20 saves to earn his second victory of the season.
• Ryan Spinale blocked four shots to help the Raiders rack up 18 in the game.

Colgate has a bye week to prepare before opening conference play at home the following weekend. The Raiders host Brown Nov. 8 and Yale Nov. 9 for 7 p.m. contests.
