"A really solid weekend for the team. We played a patient, disciplined game and it paid off."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Three of the Raiders' four goals in the third came within the final four minutes of the period. Robby Newton won a faceoff that landed at Reid Irwin's stick. He fired a shot from the neutral zone that beat the goalie to put the score at 4-1 with 3:46 left.
- Just over two minutes later, Tommy Bergsland added a shorthanded empty-net goal, making it 5-1.
- Simone Dadiè topped off the scoring with his second of the contest with 57 seconds remaining. Jack Brandt and Nic Belpedio picked up assists on the play.
- Owen Neuharth had given Colgate a 3-1 advantage with his first career goal a minute and a half into the third. Ben Raymond tapped the puck to Newton, who made a centering pass in the neutral zone to Neuharth. The junior got free on a breakaway and beat the goalie.
- St. Lawrence made it 2-1 less than a minute after the Raiders' second goal when Gabe Westling found the back of the net.
- Dadiè had made it 2-0 Colgate with less than three minutes to play in the middle frame. Jacob Napier skated in and tapped the puck to Neuharth, who fired a shot that got saved. Dadiè then cleaned up the rebound from right in front.
- Brett Chorske gave the Raiders a 1-0 lead on a power play three minutes into the second. Max Nagel received a pass right in front and took a shot that got saved. The rebound bounced to DiPaolo, and he passed across to Chorske, who fired in a shot.
- Andrew Takacs stopped seven shots in the first, keeping the Saints off the scoreboard. He also held SLU scoreless in the third with 19 saves.
- Colgate earned its first power play chance six and a half minutes into the first and had another six minutes later.
