COACH HARDER'S COMMENTS
"It was a really hard-fought game between two good hockey teams. Looking forward to doing it again tomorrow." BERGSLAND ON THE WIN AND HIS GOAL
"It was a good win for the boys and a hard-fought game. LIU comes out hard and comes in waves, and I thought we did a really good job responding to their energy and finding a way to win, and luckily my shot went in, so it was a good day."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bergsland gave the Raiders the one-goal advantage with 16 and a half minutes remaining in the third. Ben Raymond played a backhand pass that got tipped by Niko Rexine and landed at the stick of Bergsland. The senior then buried a shot from just inside the left faceoff circle.
- The Sharks had evened the score at 1-1 with a power play goal from Josh Zary at the 11:16 mark of the middle frame.
- Colgate pulled ahead 1-0 just over three and a half minutes into the second. Tic-tac-toe passing saw Brett Chorske play a short pass across to Max Nagel, who snuck the puck past a defender's stick to Michael Neumeier as he was cutting to goal, and the first-year finished it from right in front.
- Colgate picked up a huge penalty kill with three and a half minutes left in the third to prevent a Sharks' equalizer.
- Andrew Takacs stopped 10 shots in the first period, not allowing a goal. He also made nine saves to hold the Sharks scoreless in the third.
GAME NOTES
- Bergsland's goal marked the second game-winner of his career and his first since the 2021-22 season.
- Brett Chorske extended his point streak to 13 games. It is the longest active point streak in the country.
- Neumeier has scored in two straight games and is on a three-game point streak.
- Nagel increased his point streak to four games.
- Takacs finished with 26 saves in the game.
- Colgate has won four straight home games and is now 6-1-1 at the Class of 1965 Arena.
